Does Anticipation Give You Satisfaction?

Maybe Elvis’s song Satisfaction should have been more about anticipation because you can get almost giddy with it just like you can get giddy about his tune to Satisfaction.

Let’s think about that a little more. How many times have you had anticipation about an event, holiday, new year, and then, it doesn’t give you the satisfaction you were hoping for? So many times, we build up in our minds what an event “should be” and what you will do and feel that by the time it comes around it isn’t all you thought it would be. You feel let down.

As the year winds down, so many of us start feeling the anticipation of new beginnings, of a brighter future.

I remember 2019. For my family and many North Dakota farmers, it was not a great year. Everyone was so happy to say good-bye to 2019, and we were filled with hope for 2020. Well, we all know what happened there! So, what is 2021 going to look like for you? Are you filled with the excitement, hope and anticipation that 2021 may bring, or are you holding back, fearful of what is to come?

Oola helps bring joy back into your life.

Oola works on where you are – the Oola Wheel. Where you want to go – the Oola Plan, and how you are going to get there – the Oola Path.

Oola came into my life when I was no longer dreaming.

I have a feeling there are a lot of you out there that are feeling the same way I was 4 years ago. I just felt lost. I had no more hope. Fibromyalgia (Fibro) had robbed me of my dreams. In fact, I didn’t know HOW to dream anymore.

I was always the person who had everything planned out. I was showing up. I was disciplined. I felt good about my life. I had dreams and went after them. Once Fibro showed up in my world, all of this was stripped from me. My identity was stolen. When I was asked what my dream was during this time, I looked like a deer in the headlights. Blink, blink, anyone home?

I started with the Oola Wheel, finding out where I was at.

My wheel was FLAT! I was on the hub for sure. Yep, it was balanced – but not in a good way. Because everything in my life was a struggle, I had to pick just one area and one goal at a time. Fitness is where I started.  Until I could get this under control, there wasn’t a way to improve the other areas of my life.

I knew where I wanted to go.

I wanted to live a full life while living with Fibromyalgia. With the help of my general practitioner and natural pathic doctor, we started making baby-step goals towards my dream of living a full life again. It was a long, arduous task because each goal was very time consuming. We had to introduce only one thing at a time and work with it before we could add another layer of therapy. When I first started, there were times I thought I would never reach my dream.

I had a wonderful support system in the professionals I worked with and my family, most importantly my husband. Without the support system, it would have been easy to give up and, sad to say, most likely not here anymore. When you are in that much pain and fatigue 24 hours every day of the year, with no end in sight, it puts you in a very dark place.

I hear you!

If you are dealing with a change in your life that is robbing you of your dreams, I hear you. If you don’t to know where to start, I hear you. If you are too overwhelmed to know where you want to go, I hear you. If you need guidance putting those baby steps – those goals – together, I hear you. Contact me below so we can schedule a 30-minute chat. I can listen and start helping you with the pain you are going through and start living the life YOU deserve!

Wrap Up That Family Dynamic

The holidays are a stressful time for many people.

Not only is there more to do, there’s a family dynamic that often brings more stress.

Siblings. Parents. Cousins. And that uncle who, every year, you wish would just stay home.

But instead of wrapping one more package this holiday season, why not “wrap up” those pressing family matters that are a source of ongoing stress.

Have the crucial conversations . . . set boundaries for future behavior . . . and prioritize your immediate family’s well-being. After all, chances are that you’re not the only one being affected: your spouse and kids are on edge, too.

Whatever it is, get it handled by the end of 2020, then make plans for an amazing family life in 2021.

The idea of setting boundaries for outliers while strengthening your “inner circle” family relationships is something I learned from Dave Braun and Troy Amdahl (aka “The OolaGuys”) authors of the book, Oola: Find Balance in an Unbalanced World.

This December, try focusing on your immediate family’s well-being for a few days and see what happens.

Then get ready for an extraordinary year in 2021. As a Certified Oola Life Coach, I’ve joined forces with Dave and Troy to help clients set goals next year in all 7 major areas of life: fitness, finance, family, field (career), faith, friends, and fun. Through the 10-week Oola Coaching Program, I’ll help you establish new goals, prioritize your tasks and—most importantly— stay accountable to accomplishing them week by week.

Message me and we can jump on a call about it. Until then, be grateful, have faith, and go get your Oola Life.

Wrap Up Your Finances

Holiday spending often leads to bigger bills in January.

But have you thought about rolling into 2021 with finances that are solid, a budget you can follow, and laser-beam focus on getting out of debt?

In a recent post, I talked about wrapping up 2020 so you can create the life you want next year.

But for too many people, “wrapping up” their finances in December means ignoring their credit limit, spending too much, and saying “I’ll get to it” when it comes to eliminating debt.

That’s not cool. Here’s what is:

  • A budget that lets you pay the bills, save for the future, and still have fun (yes, it’s possible)
  • Seven months’ worth of living expenses in an emergency fund that’s ready when disaster strikes
  • Student loans, mortgages, credit card balances – all debt paid off (for real)
  • A solid estate plan with your will, trust or other documents completely handled and tucked away
  • A healthy retirement fund with prudent investments that let you jump ship sooner than you think
  • Money for fun . . . and for life’s coolest adventures

If your finances aren’t this solid right now, maybe you need some balance. In fact, one thing I’ve learned from “The OolaGuys” — Dave Braun and Troy Amdahl, authors of the international bestselling book Oola — is that financial stress not only robs you of happiness, it negatively impacts family life and takes away choices when it comes to career, fun time, and lifestyle.

If finances need to be your #1 priority next year, I can help.

I’ve joined forces with Dave and Troy to bring my followers the Oola formula via a 10-week coaching experience designed to transform your life, your finances, your relationships and more. Message me and we can jump on a call about it.

Not only will coaching help you define the goals you want to achieve, it will keep you accountable to doing those things every day that bring about the results you want.

Wrap Up Those Fitness Goals

With a global pandemic upon us, 2020 was a year when virtually everyone was focused on their health.

Or were they?

While we were busy social distancing and stockpiling, many people overlooked other health conditions . . . spaced on their routine workouts . . . rationalized work-at-home snacking . . . and saw their stress levels skyrocket.

If 2020 was a “fitness fail” for you, I have a suggestion: why not spend the month of December wrapping up overdue health concerns – instead of tying more bows on packages?

Make a list of what’s needed, then jump on the phone to schedule appointments — and jump online to find workout equipment for your home. Get started with goals that will recapture that healthy lifestyle you want.

After all, you can’t have an amazing future if your body doesn’t show up to support you.

That’s something I learned from Dr. Dave Braun and Dr. Troy Amdahl – The OolaGuys – authors of the international bestselling book Oola: Find Balance in an Unbalanced World.

When I first started working with The OolaGuys to become a Certified Oola Life Coach, I discovered that the Oola formula has changed the lives of more than a million followers around the world. Story after story appeared on Oola’s Facebook page of people who had hit major life goals (or simply transformed their chaos into balance and calm).

The OolaLife is one that rocks in 7 major areas: fitness, finance, family, field (career), faith, friends and fun.

Dave and Troy and I have now joined forces to deliver the 10-week Oola Coaching Program to achievers like you. It’s a game-changer for anyone who wants to live with less stress, more balance, and greater purpose.

Message me and we can jump on a 30-minute call to discuss what coaching is like and how it can work for you.

Is Sabotage Keeping You from Your Dreams?

When I was learning about self-sabotage, one of the OolaBlockers, I thought I NEVER did that in my life. Well, guess what? The old saying, “Never say Never” becomes true once again.

Self-sabotage has a lot to do with your self-conscious mind.

Self-sabotage is the negative thoughts you tell yourself. It is those thoughts you have telling yourself that you aren’t good enough, you’re not pretty/handsome enough, you’re not smart enough, etc.  What is worse is that often this can turn into actions that try to prove all of these negative thoughts are true, when they are not.

Look, we ALL make mistakes in life but they do NOT define who you are! Those moments are a quick snapshot of a long life. YOU have the power to change that narrative. How empowering to embrace this idea, rather than a negative, self-proclaimed “prophecy” that doesn’t have to be. Remember, YOU were designed for greatness. Seize it!

Your Subconscious Mind Likes to Be the Boss of You.

OK, so I have to be a little scientist for a moment. Over your lifetime, your subconscious mind takes in information and helps you make decisions. This information is programmed to act in your best interests. It protects you from harm. So, every time you try to achieve a goal but fail miserably, your subconscious mind reacts to that painful disappointment by saying, “Ok, so we’re never doing that again!” It stores the information so it can protect you the next time you take a similar action.

Whenever, you try to change your subconscious thinking, it will try to tell you to stop and even be persistent so that you start believing the old thoughts. You need to be even more persistent in your positive affirmations to let your mind know that you mean business. I’ll tell you a secret. I notice when I am really trying to retrain my thinking. I find that when I do my prayers at night, I also state the positive affirmations for retraining my brain. I have found this to be very impactful.

Snapshots of My Life When Self-Sabotage Was at Work.

When I look at snapshots of my own life, I can now see where I allowed self-sabotage to grab a hold of my actions. Most of these incidents are parts of my life that I am not proud of. Now, I am not going to just blame self-sabotage and not take accountability for my actions – that is very UnOola! In order to lose the hold self-sabotage and guilt (another OolaBlocker) have from those actions, I have to hold myself accountable, learn from them, and make amends when necessary.

As I look back at these situations, they were tense ones for me. I was also in a learning curve and often in a place where I wanted my life to go in a different direction. I was trying to make a pivot but did not always do it in a gracious manner.

When in uncomfortable situations, it is hard to stop and really reflect on the best way to proceed. It is easy to fall victim to self-sabotage and let the other OolaBlockers (fear, guilt, anger, laziness, envy, and lack of focus) come into play. That is why working with me as your Life Coach is so important. I can be that person who looks at each situation neutrally and can help guide you through the OolaBlocker minefield. If you are ready for that kind of guidance, comment below, and we can set up a 30-minute chat.

Wrap Your Goals Up

The Campaign Begins

For countless people, December is a month for celebrating and focusing on family, friends and what’s truly important. It’s a month for great food and fun times . . . and giving gifts.

But before you get out the wrapping paper and ribbon, why not inventory your accomplishments over the past year and recommit to the things you wish you’d done?

It’s time to look at 2020 and wrap it up.

If you’ve been following my posts over the last several months, you know I’m big into creating balance and lowering stress in 7 major areas of life. It’s something I learned from “The OolaGuys”—Dave Braun and Troy Amdahl, authors of the international bestselling book Oola: Find Balance in an Unbalanced World.

They recommend (and I do, too) taking inventory to see where you’re at – and determine how you’ll get to where you want to be.

So which loose ends do you need to “wrap up” before the end of 2020? And what do you need to do in 2021 to live the life you want?

Wrap It Up: Incompletes from 2020

Fitness: Health condition that needs to be handled?

Finance: Estate planning overdue?

Family: Crucial conversations you need to have?

Field: That talk with management about a promotion?

Faith: That Bible study guide you bought months ago?

Friends: Catch up calls to friends who’ve drifted away?

Fun: Travel photos framed or put in a Shutterfly book?

Whatever you need to wrap up this year, why not spend December focusing on it? And while you’re busy completing those incompletes, why not dream a little about the life you want to create in 2021? Whatever your plans for next year, I can help you stay focused on them. In fact, I’ve joined forces with The OolaGuys to bring my followers the Oola formula via a 10-week coaching experience designed to transform your life, your finances, your relationships and more. Message me and we can jump on a call about it. I’m here to help 2021 be a breakthrough year for you.

Gifts That Keep on Giving

As the holiday season approaches, finding that perfect gift for the special people in your life can be an adventure or a stressor. My goal with this blog is to give you some ideas you may have not thought about.

Use your talent of creating.

I am a person that loves creating heartfelt gifts for my loved ones as much as I love getting these kinds of gifts. Here are some examples that, of course, are very Oola.

Downloadable Jalendar: Remember, I am coining a new word! Jalendar – a calendar and journal all in one! I have 2 options on my website for the Jalendar. I have a blank month version and also a 2021 version with the months and dates finished for you.  All you need to do is print off the Jalendar, take it to an office store for a clear cover and back, and then have them add notebook binding to finish it off for easy use.

Gratitude Journal: There are a couple of ways to think about this.

    1. The first is to decorate the cover of a handmade gratitude journal. You can decide if you want the inside paper to be lined or unlined. Use stickers, stamps, flowers, ribbon…the sky’s the limit. Make it a reflection of the person you are gifting this handmade creation to. Decorate it with things they like or things that are important to them. Etsy has craft notebooks for a minimal cost that are ready for you to do your magic!
    2. The second way to do a gratitude journal is to do the same as above, but instead or in addition to, why not add a pageful of gratitudes about the recipient. What a keepsake!

A “Things I Will Do for You” Coupon Booklet: One of the most memorable gifts my daughter gave me was made with love and did not cost her anything but time. She made a booklet which was 4 inches tall by 8.5 inches wide. She used decorative paper for the front and back covers. Inside, she wrote coupons for different things she was willing to do for me. For example: make my bed, fold the laundry, clean the bathroom, read me a story. She stapled this little booklet together, but you can use a ribbon for the “binder” as well.

Other gifts that keep on giving.

Oola 10-Week Coaching Program or the Positively Powerful Life Program: This is one of those gifts that will continue to give long after the Christmas wrapping comes off! Who doesn’t want to learn to live the life they were meant to live? Education and bettering ourselves not only helps the recipient, but those around them as well.

Vision Board Seminars: I offer two different Vision Board Video Seminars. One is focused on the home and one is focused on life. This is a great way to start thinking about life and your home in a way that you may not have in the past. It starts the process of retraining your brain for what you want in your life.

Positively Powerful Membership Site: This is a site stocked with resources, videos, and knowledge. This is a quarterly membership site that allows you to have Oola information at your fingertips. This membership site will have new content added weekly throughout the year. Coming March 2021.  We can do a gift certificate for the membership site at this time.

Positively Powerful Life Gift Card: Of course, if you know you want to gift one of these fabulous services but are not quite sure which one to pick – a Positively Powerful Life gift card is just the ticket!

Dave Ramsey Resources: The Total Money Makeover bundle is a great way to start your new year off on the right foot, by learning a new way of looking at your finances. Go from despair to an action plan to slashing those debts one-by-one.

Oola Store: Our Oola Store is jam packed with apparel, books, resources, and delicious teas.

No matter what you choose above,

It will be received with the gratitude of learning a better way of living. Contact me below if you would like to discuss the options laid out above or if you would like to gift yourself one of these smashing ideas!

Together, we are Positively Powerful!

Addendum: The Green Gap 3 Week Coaching Program:

I received certification on the Green Gap of Dave Ramsey’s financial method.  This is a three week coaching program with yours truly as your 1:1 coach. Available January 2021. We can do a gift certificate for this until available.

Be Grateful, Have Faith, Choose Happiness

“Choose happiness.”

I always smile when I see that on a bumper sticker or Pinterest. It’s such a quaint idea. I mean, whoever talks about happiness anymore?

The news media doesn’t talk about it. Most coworkers talk about everything but. And happiness has become such a vague notion anyway . . . seriously, what does it really mean?

Well, here’s what I know for sure . . .

Happiness is not something you find or that other people give you. Instead, it’s something you choose on your own.

And making small changes like being grateful?

That creates a shift in your outlook. You can wake up every day and live your life, or you can wake up every day and let life happen to you. Whether you drive the bus or ride the bus, it’s always your choice.

I’ve chosen gratitude, and it’s helped give me a new perspective on life today—as well as for the future. I’m content with what I have, but reaching for growth, too. Being balanced and growing—that’s real happiness to me.

Are you ready to be grateful while reaching for growth in the major areas of your life?

If you’ve been following my posts over the past month, you know that—right now—you have a unique opportunity to make next year better than the one we’ve just been through.

If recent events have caused you to re-think your lifestyle, your finances, your health, your relationships and your future, we should jump on a call to discuss exactly what you want your future to look like. It’s what I help clients with, and it would be my honor to work with you, too.

Message me and let’s schedule some time to chat soon. Or, go here to read more about the 10-week Oola Coaching Program before we jump on that call.
